First and foremost, click here for information and download Mozilla's Firefox web browser. If you are worried about the security of your computer and are tired of worrying about spyware/adware/popups or even ads within a page (like those annoying 'Shoot the duck and win a prize' crap) you can use this browser and install the AdBlock extension.
Now, onto other cool stuff (click the name to visit the developer's site)...

Drug Lord 2

Simple, fun, addicting game. The premise is simple; buy low, sell high (no pun intended). Turn based and surprisingly clean, considering the nature of the game.

Gilly Messenger   -  Download From cracksoft.net

A replacement for MSN Messenger. It's smaller, quicker, no ads, no tabs, just a simple messaging program with file transfer and display pictures. Yet it does have some rather fun features. Like the auto-message. Automatically reply with a preset message, message all, where you can type a message once and it'll get sent to everyone that you have a conversation window open with, ignore all, you stay online and block nobody, but you get no notification of a new message, the ability to program your own chat bot or scripts (of which is comes with many. One of them is an annoy script - type in the address of your target and it'll block, unblock, block, unblock.... giving them popup after popup of '[your name] has signed in'). Another great feature is the ability to sign in appearing offline. But as Microsoft would have it, MSN Messenger 7 has stolen most of the greatest features.

GIMP

An all out awesome image editor. Stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program and is comparable to Photoshop with features and expandability via plug-ins. We love this program. We used it and only if for all our graphics needs for this site. And it's absolutely free.

Madotate

This is just simply... wow. This tiny little program will add a fourth button to your windows. Clicking on it causes it to become transparent and move off to the top, side or bottom, whichever is closest. They can be moved around as needed. Madotate is small, fast and absolutely awesome. No need to install anything, just run it and it goes to work. We highly recommend trying it. Most computers these days have a 3D graphics card of some sort, so why not make the desktop environment 3D? To be fair, Sun has done a lot of work in that area with a little thing called 'Project Looking Glass'. Check that out if you haven't already.

A few things you should know about this one before you get started - it was originally written in a non-english language (Japanese, we think). Volunteers have gone through with the source code and translated the best they could, and they did a wonderful job. All of the important things have been translated. Think you could help? Here is the source code. Have fun. It is compressed in lzh file format. Click here to download a free decompression program for that format.

Metapad

Damn nifty replacement for Notepad. Loads instantly, changes caps (UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case), always on top, transparency, find/replace, delete trailing white space, and many other features.

Pure Voice Player

The player used to play and convert qcp files to wav files (and vice versa). If you don't know what that means, skip this application. Downloading this required filling out a form on Qualcomm's web site, so we put it here where a valid email address, home address, name and company are not required. Just download.

Prolific USB-To-Serial Phone Data Cable Drivers

For those of you who, like our main programmer, have a data cable to connect your cell phone to your computers USB port, you will need this (and BitPim) to establish a connection between the two. These will do it.

    Installation Instructions:

Quintessential Player

This is our MP3 player of choice. It starts quick, plays MP3's, and has a ton of nifty plug-ins. One feature we like is the ability it has to automatically add new MP3's to the playlist as you add them to your music folder. It has a few things some of us dislike, such as when you double click on a song to play it, the main window will pull itself up in front, even when we already have the remote open, forcing us to minimize the main window everytime we open an audio file by double-clicking on it.

Sonique

This one is new to us, but so far we love it. We have yet to explore the plug-ins or even the options screen, but this loads quick and plays MP3s, so we were happy until it decided to crash consistently. To download, you must be a member of some sort. Skip that. We did. Here is where we downloaded it from. Let me know if the link ceases to work.

Tweak UI

Written by Microsoft designed to solve many of the annoyances of Windows. Little things, like getting rid of the 'Shortcut to' when making a shortcut, changing Start Menu speed, cursor shadow, menu animation and fading, tool tip fade/animation, smooth scrolling, combo box animation, small arrow on shortcut icons, show control panel on start menu settings, show dial-up networking on start menu settings, set your own directories for open file boxes, you get the idea.

WinAmp

A (used to be) excellent MP3 player. Yeah, it has a buttload of other features, but that's all we used it for. Our favorite thing about it (other than the obvious) is that by pressing Control, Alt and J at the same time, it pops up a dialog where you can type in any part of the artist and/or song title, it'll narrow the list as you type (so your spelling can completely suck, but out of a 2,000 song list, just typing 'met one', it'll narrow all the songs down to one - Metallica's infamous song 'One'. Then we just press enter and the dialog goes away, and the song plays. Awesome. Needless to say, it also has a TON of other stuff like that which we see to be mainly pointless because 90% of the time you never need to interact with it at all. But hey, what do we know... none of our programs have taken off like it has. So we're probably wrong. Too bad it's too overloaded with features that are rarely need. Takes up too many resources. That's why we stopped using it a long time ago.
